The first time

I found myself in a strange situation today.

I am fucking broke - really broke. I have 5 dollars and 50 cents in my checking account, and somewhere in the neighborhood of 67 cents in my pocket.
That's not the problem, though.

I had a job interview in the Financial District earlier today, and only had enough money to get there on the train, and not back.

I was walking around the entire area, looking for change on the ground, as I don't think I look indecent enough to beg people for change on the street.

I wouldn't want to, really.

The point is, I have never seen ground so destitute of pennies, nickles, and dimes.
There was nothing.

Vultures about.

I had to hop the emergency gate to get on the train home.

  1. Well, aren't you a rebel?

Welcome to the real world, boo-boo. Fiscal responsibility doesn't come easy, maybe you'll finally learn something?

Or maybe you'll just be bailed out without having earned it?

Time will tell. I'm sure the story you present the world will be much more fraught with peril than what actually transpires.

  2. Asshole comments are always by anonymous pussies.
Anyways, I've been going through the same thing, I don't know how I've been pulling through. People keep give me a couple bucks here and there, I guess, is really the only reason I could survive. Anyways, it's always darkest before dawn, and once the money starts flowing, you'll be okay.

  3. I think you may have missed the point entirely. The fact that I am broke was setting up the point of the observation, the lack of change on the ground. A simple observation.

On the other hand, you seem to be taking this blog considerably more seriously than I do.
This is an outlet for me to shamelessly rant, bitch, moan, write, and whatever I feel like. Stories are vague, and the other post that you have been complaining about is aimed at nobody in particular.
Keep in mind, more often than not, I write in this blog when I have been drinking.

Keep in mind, this is a blog. Just a blog. Not something to take so seriously.

I don't know if I have offended you personally, or who you are even, but it is incredibly hard to take you seriously as you remain anonymous, while trying to tear me a new asshole. If you're going to accuse me of being immature, I don't think your setting a good example by trolling a random blog and calling me out on situations that I find humorous in the first place. Good for you.

  4. Thank you Anna. Can't wait to see you for your birthday! I got a paycheck today as well, so I'm just fine.

  5. if you're ever in trouble, craigslist > jobs > ETC.

the ETC section is stock full of focus groups and market research. generally you're paid $75-$125 for an hour's worth of your "every-man opinion" on some new product.

the bright side of being broke (though i know that wasn't the focus of this post) is that in sf there are a million ways to solve the problem.

  6. Thanks Steven, yeah, I've been all over craigslist the last few weeks trying to find something. It is only a matter of time, I'm sure.
